Light Lake Night

White crescent light,

the great dipper

cups the sky’s fluid,

pours from the milky way

into the long wide lake

its milky likeness.

Deep in the night

the lake settles,

a melting ice floe

with stars embedded

in spring

already seeming summer.

A milky stare,

a cow’s soft eye.

Light lake night.
